It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

I joined my friends Merlin Mann and John Siracusa for a special episode of their podcast, Reconcilable Differences. It's a very special "Members Only" episode, available to Relay FM subscribers.

This is Allan McKay. Welcome to Episode 146! I’m speaking with Kathleen Ruffalo from Framestore. She is a Crew Manager. It was great to speak to her about Framestore and her experience managing any kind of artist. She shares such great insight, I’ve already been quoting her everywhere.

Adam is a buddy of mine. We met back at Digital Dimension, working on a movie. Adam has worked for a number of studios throughout his career: Lucasfilm, Sony, Digital Domain, Disney, Imagi and a lot of other places. What I was really excited to talk about is Superman Returns and negotiating to be a part of that production.

This is Allan McKay. Welcome to Episode 138! I’m doing the first ever AMA (Ask Me Anything) Podcast. This was a lot of fun. I did an announcement on Social Media recently about this Episode. I got hundreds of questions. I had to choose just 10 or so.

Every year as NAB gets under way, one of the questions on editors’ lips is: what does Da Vinci Resolve do now? One day soon the answer may be everything. This is Allan McKay. Welcome to Episode 134! I’m speaking with Bob Scott from Pixar. Bob came from Warner Brothers and interesting to cover his transition from traditional animation into the world of 3D. He was able to see the writing on the wall and adapt to this disruptive innovation. It’s pretty amazing to go on this journey with Bob!

This Episode is going to be a lot of fun. Thierry goes over other ideas and practices. He is a really insightful guest, just like Bobby. What I love the most about Thierry is that he came from being a wine expert. He talks about wine being an art form and how he was able to transfer all of that knowledge into his current art.
