Review of the Blackmagic Design Resolve Editor Keyboard by Scott Simmons - ProVideo Coalition

October 14, 2019, 10:17 AM

t was quite a surprise to many, at NAB 2019, when Blackmagic Design introduced the DaVinci Resolve Editor Keyboard. It was especially surprising to me as it’s not very often we see dedicated hardware built primarily for editing. There are quite a few different editing keyboards from Logic and Editors Keys, but those are usually just conventional keyboards with different colored keycaps added. They don’t do anything to actually enhance the editing experience by providing new tools or new workflows.

Review: DaVinci Resolve Editor Keyboard really enhances speed and cut flow

October 14, 2019, 10:17 AM

Blackmagic Design doubled-down on advanced editing features in 2019 by introducing a new editing mode to DaVinci Resolve 16 called the cut page. They also added a dedicated editor's keyboard - something that warms the heart of any editor who started their career in a linear edit suite. After some post-NAB feedback and adjustment, the keyboard is finally ready for prime time, running with DaVinci Resolve 16.1 (currently in public beta) or later.

No Sound From Your MIDI Keyboard? MIDI Monitoring And Troubleshooting In Pro Tools - Expert Video Tutorial

October 12, 2019, 10:22 AM

We’ve all experienced the moment when we hit a triumphant opening chord on our MIDI keyboards, to be met with nothing more than the clack of plastic keys. The reason your MIDI controller isn’t talking to your virtual instrument is usually fairly simple with some visual feedback confirming not only that MIDI is being received but exactly what MIDI is being received, which notes, chords and CC data. Find out where to look to monitor this data at the input rather than from a recorded clip in this Premium Tutorial from Pro Tools Expert team member Julian Rodgers.
